Most people asking how long an MOT takes are really asking whether they can wait for it. The test itself usually takes between 45 and 60 minutes for a normal car, so it is easy to fit into a morning or a lunch break.
The time can stretch a little if the tester finds something that needs a closer look, or if the car is very dirty and needs cleaning before lights and plates can be checked properly. Booking an early slot is the safest way to get your car back the same morning.
