MOT

When Is My MOT Due? How to Check (and Why It Matters)

3 min read

Your MOT expiry date is printed on your last certificate, and you can also check it free on the government website using just your registration number.

Driving without a valid MOT can mean a fine, and your insurance may not pay out. Cars need their first MOT three years after registration, then every year after that.

You can book up to a month early without losing any time on the certificate — see the details on our MOT testing page.

We can also send you a reminder so it never creeps up on you.
